The Cub Scout Motto

What is the first thing a Cub Scout Learns?

To earn the Bobcat rank, the first recognition achieved by a new cub scout, we learn the Scout Oath, Law, and the Cub Scout Motto (among a few other things).

On my honor I will do my best.
To do my duty to God and my country, and to obey the Scout Law.
To help other people at all times,
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

A Scout is:
Trustworthy
Loyal
Helpful
Friendly
Courteous
Kind
Obedient
Cheerful
Thrifty
Brave
Clean
Reverent

Do Your Best

What makes Scouting great?

Fundamentally, it's that we only expect the boys to do their best.  It's all you can really ask for and it's all you can really expect.
